Outside straight: An open ended straight that can be completed at either end, such as the cards 6,7,8,9.
Inside straight: A straight with a missing inside card, such as the cards 5,6,8,9. Cards at the ends are also considered as inside straights ( A,2,3,4 and J,Q,K,A). In the table above, straights with gaps are inside straights.
J = Jack
Q = Queen
K = King
A = Ace
Gap: The number of ranks needed to fill in the middle of a straight flush. Examples:
0 gaps: 4,5,6
1 gap: 4,5,7
2 gaps: 4,5,8
End cards are also counted as having gaps:
